Why she made the list
It seems as though any woman on any of the “CSI” shows, over 40, is a knockout. Aren’t there ugly crime scene people in this country? Marg is gorgeous, sure. But she’s also brilliant. Marg is very active in the fight against breast cancer, and though she isn’t a survivor herself, her mother was.

Where you know her from:
She’s on a little known show called “Desperate Housewives”, and has done a ton of TV shows in the past, such as; “Everwood,” “CSI,” “Melrose Place,” “Knots Landing,” and “Ned and Stacey.”
Why she made the list
Look at her. This woman had twins not long ago. She popped out two teeny tiny kids, and went back to a size -3 in a matter of minutes.

Where you know her from:
Marisa Tomei has been on a number of TV shows, and movies over the past 20 years, including “Rescue Me,” Alfie, Anger Management, Untamed Heart, My Cousin Vinny, Four Rooms, and “A Different World.”
Why she made the list
Who didn’t fall in love with Tomie in My Cousin Vinny. No one made a white trash character look as good as Marisa Tomei did. From white trash, to sexy vixen in FX’s “Rescue Me,” how can you not love her?

Where you know her from:
Amy played “Amy” on “Judging Amy.” Two of her more important movie roles include Heat (Deniro’s girlfriend), and Fear (Reese Witherspoon’s step-mother). Currently, she’s starring in ABC’s “Private Practice.”
Why she made the list
Amy Brenneman is beautiful in that classic “you could be my friend’s mom” sort of way. She call pull of jeans and a sweatshirt just as well as an extremely expensive Versace gown. She has style and class, and looks amazing in anything she wears.

Where you know her from:
Probably nowhere, unless you saw the hysterical Shoot ‘em Up flick earlier this year, or have a tendency to watch Italian made flicks. Bellucci’s a rather unknown in the states.
Why she made the list
Go out and Google “hottest woman over 40,” I dare you. I can guarantee that Bellucci makes virtually everyone’s list. And those who don’t name her, take flack in the comments about it. Bellucci is revered as being one of the hottest women over 40 by many men, including me. Is it the accent? Is it the eyes? No, it’s probably the boobs.

Age: 42
Where you know her from:
Diane is most famous for being in movies, most notably Must Love Dogs, The Outsiders, Indian Summer, Murder at 1600, and Hollywoodland.
Why she made the list
Diane Lane was someone I never knew existed, until Must Love Dogs came around, and I had to see it to quench my Cusack-thirst. Lane is gorgeous in the most subtle way possible. She’s a knock-out, and is one of the only stars on this list that has no idea that people think so.

Where you know her from:
Halle Berry is the epitome of a go-to woman movie star. She’s done roles in all three X-men movies, Perfect Stranger, Gothika, she was Catwoman, Monster’s Ball, and Swordfish amongst others.
Why she made the list
What good is a list of hot women over 40 without Halle Berry? The country nearly came to a standstill when she did her first topless scene. Now that’s power. She doesn’t look a day over 25, and still gets cast in movie roles based on her hotness. Can she act? I don’t know, I’m always too distracted looking at her, to pay attention to what she’s saying.

Where you know her from:
She’s a movie star, by every definition of the word. Movies in her credits include Speed, Premonition, The Lake House, Crash, Two Weeks Notice, Practical Magic, The Net, and While You Were Sleeping.
Why she made the list
When Sandra Bullock first came onto the scene and made it big with Speed almost 14 years ago, teenage boys everywhere thought “Why isn’t my bus driver that hot?” And still to this day, teenage boys are thinking the same thing. Bullock now mostly stars in romantic comedy type movies, boyfriends and husbands will gladly take their wives or girlfriends to stare at Bullock for 90 minutes.

#2: Lauren Graham
Age: 40
Where you know her from:
She was on that little show called “Gilmore Girls,” and you may have seen her in 2003’s Bad Santa. She played opposite Mandy Moore in Because I Said So, and played Steve Carell’s wife in Evan Almighty.
Why she made the list
I made the mistake once of flipping to the WB while “Gilmore Girls” was on, not only was the daughter hot, but the mom was hot too. What kind of deranged show was this? A mother and a daughter who are both hot, who talk to each other? There’s no way this can last! Going from “mom” on “Gilmore Girls” to Sue (a sex driven nutcase) in Bad Santa was the ultimate transformation, and only added to Graham’s hotness.

Age: 43
Where you know her from:
Hargitay has been playing Detective Olivia Benson on TV’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” since 1999. She’s also crossed onto various other “Law & Order” shows, and spinoffs. She did a dozen or so episodes of “ER” back in the mid-nineties, as well.
Why she made the list
On a weekly basis, she plays a cop. She sticks a gun in people’s faces, and tells them what to do. That alone is totally hot. Add in the fact that she recently had a baby (and still has baby-boobs from it), and went right back to work. She knows how to dress to show off her body, and she’s got a killer smile that she could flash and melt Greenland. Hargitary wins the top honor in our Hottest 40 Women over 40 list.
