Entertainment Weekly has reported that Jessica Biel has passed on the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Justice League movie.
Earlier in the week we had heard that she was in talks to play the superhero, and were happy with the casting choice because of how badass Biel was in Blade: Trinity. Now that she’s out of the running, we’re hoping against hope that Kate Beckinsale will be approached for the role We *heart* Kate.

I cannot be more excited that Biel will NOT be playing this part. It would have been beyond horrible, and I would have had everyone boycott it. Now, don’t forget, everyone is going to compare this to Lynda Carter’s portrayal on the TV show (which I absolutely ADORED and a big part of why ladies my age still think WW is so great). Beckinsale has the look and she would be a good fit. If they can’t get her, Catherine Zeta-Jones is another good choice, don’t you think?
Here’s the thing - it seems to me that they’re casting younger versions of the superheroes. It’s rumored that Ryan Gosling was cast as Batman (see here: Ryan Gosling as Batman?). Catherine Zeta-Jones is way out of that age range (not to say she isn’t fabulously gorgeous). To be fair, to a casting director, Kate Beckinsale is too.
Also, the audience that’s going to see this movie didn’t necessarily watch the TV show (seeing as how it ended several years before some of them were born). Generally, they’re fans of the comic books.
