Emily Blunt in Iron Man 2?

Variety is reporting (though just a rumor at this point), that Emily Blunt may be cast in the Iron Man sequel, as Black Widow.

Though not confirmed as of yet, Variety is usually pretty right on with these rumors.  I think she’s make a great addition to the cast, personally.

  McG to Direct 20,000 Leagues

This morning Variety is reporting that Disney has hired McG (Terminator Salvation) to direct, Sean Bailey (Tron) to produce and Bill Marsilli (Deja Vu) to write a new 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea movie.

Disney has reportedly been holding off on this project, and focusing on the National Treasure and Pirates of the Caribbean franchines instead.  Now that they’re on hiatus, Disney is focusing on 20,000 Leagues.

In 1954, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was the second highest grossing movie, and won three Oscars.  It’ll be amazing to see what they can do with today’s technology.

Pirates 4 Rumor – Zac Efron?

Zac Efron has been quoted as saying:

At this point, it’s just a rumor.

This came in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, on his radio show.  What does that mean?  It means the franchise is going to die, because they probably are casting him.

The majority of actors who say “it’s just a rumor” have already been offered the part, and are in the process of negotiating terms, but don’t want to screw it up by saying something.

First, talks of Tim Burton directing, now Zac Efron directing?  Has Disney lost their goddamnedfreaking minds?  Tim Burton belongs off in his little world making weird movies with clay, and Zac Efron belongs playing a high school student until he’s 30.  Neither of them belong in, or around, a fourth Pirates movie.

Daniel Craig Will Not Play Thor

MTV Movies confirms that while he was offered the role in the upcoming Thor movie, Daniel Craig, who’s currently playing James Bond in next month’s Quantum Of Solace, has turned down the role.

From MTV:

During a recent “Quantum of Solace” press event, Craig revealed that Marvel did indeed approach him to play Thor, but he turned the role down. According to IESB, Craig said he declined the part because it would have been “too much of a power trip” to play both Bond and Thor.

Burton Casts Red and White Queens for “Alice”

It’s been made officially unofficial as of early this morning (super early this morning for me, since I’m on the West coast this week.)

Burton has cast, surprise surprise Helena Bonham-Carter as the “off with her head” Red Queen, in the upcoming live-action, stop-animation, CGI fest remake of Alice In Wonderland.

In a turning surprise, the White Queen will be played by Anne Hathaway.  After seeing Hathaway do an amazing job hosting SNL this past Saturday, I’m game to see just about anything she’s in.  If you didn’t catch the episode, you should download it, or watch the highlights on YouTube, because it was a great week.

De Niro And Scorsese Make Mobster Flick
Posted by: Mike on Oct 2nd, 2008 1 Comment »

It was reported yesterday, via various sources, that Martin Scorses and Robert De Niro are going to be working together on a movie called I Heard You Paint Houses, which is an adaptation of the book of the same name, written by Charles Brandt.

“I heard you paint houses” was/is mobster slang for killing people, and the splatter of blood that flew across walls and ceilings in the victims’ homes.

De Niro will play Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, who was reportedly involved in as many as 25 mob assassinations. Many believe he is the man responsible for killing Jimmy Hoffa.

Part of me is excited, but the other half says “that last De Niro movie got reviewed pretty badly.”  What do you think? Does this sound like something you’d be interested in?  Voice your opinion in the comments.
