I had the opportunity to catch an IMAX screening of The Dark Knight in New York over the weekend, while visiting family. Obviously, I jumped at the opportunity. While The Dark Knight has been falling lower and lower on the box office charts, the IMAX showings in our area are still often sold out. As was the case in New York, at Saturday night’s 5PM showing.
Luckily, we got there early, and were able to get seats that weren’t two inches from the screen.
The movie starts out with a scene shot specifically for IMAX, the entire bank robbery scene was there, in all its enormous glory. Seeing it on the big screen was one thing, but seeing it in IMAX was a completely different experience.
Not only is the screen almost double the size of a regular theater, but the sound was also much better than the theater I’d previously seen The Dark Knight in.
If you’ve been wondering if it’s worth dropping another $10 to see it in IMAX, the answer is a resounding yes. Not only will you notice things you didn’t pick up on the first run through the film, but you’ll also enjoy it more. And, let’s face it, we should all go see the movie again, so we can knock Titanic off the number one spot. As it stands now, I don’t think The Dark Knight is going to rake in another $110 million, to beat Titanic, unless I go see the movie 100,000 more times. Which, if I had the money, I totally would.

In a statement released a few hours ago from his rep, they had the following to say:
“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister,” the actor’s reps said in the statement. “Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale.”
With that said, someone (who allegedly knew someone there Sunday night, said the following (which confirms my assumption that Christian Bale’s family is trash:
“Edna: “His mom and sister are alcoholics and drug addicts, they showed up at his hotel uninvited and highly intoxicated. they were calling him big shot and that he needs to take care of his own. His mom was yelling that he would be nothing without her and he owed her. His sister was begging for money and when he was pushing her toward the door his mother came from behind and started hitting him on his head and kicking him. He managed to push them both out the door and his mom fell, they called the police and wanted him arrested. I believe that Chirstian is the victim here not his mom or sister”
Mandy: “edna, how do you know all that?”
Edna: “My father works security at the hotel, and he said it was a mess. His mom and sister wanted the front desk worker to let them into his room to wait for him. When they were told no they started cussing and yelling. They sat in front of his door for an hour until he finally arrived.”
I’m convinced that Christian Bale would do nothing wrong. TMZ is reporting that the “abuse” claim was verbal, not physical, which is a relief. I can’t say I blame him for yelling at his junkie mom for trying to extort him, but that’s just me.

Actor Christian Bale has turned himself into London Police early this morning, in conjunction with accusations that he beat his mother (61) and sister (40).
Bale’s mother and sister filed a complaint with London Police on Sunday night. London Police declined to arrest Bale on Monday, as he was promoting The Dark Knight around town.
As of this morning, Bale has turned himself into authorities, and the case is pending further action.
My day just got a little bit sadder. I’d hate to think that Batman’s a woman beater.

As dubbed by me, I officially declare today The Dark Knight day.
After watching Batman Begins last night on Blu-ray, I’m beyond excited to be seeing The Dark Knight in just over 2 hours. Stay tuned for my review in a little bit.

Warner Brothers has put up some trailers for the new Terminator flick, which will be shown prior to The Dark Knight this weekend. You can check them out here first:
I haven’t checked out the trailer yet. I want to wait and watch it on the big screen tomorrow morning. I’ve never been a big fan of the Terminator flicks, in fact I don’t even think I’ve seen T3 yet. But I am a Christian Bale fan, so I’m definitely in for the fourth flick.
