Holy Crap! Christian Bale’s Acting Debut
Posted by: Christine on May 28th, 2009 2 Comments »

Apparently a very young Christian Bale got his acting debut in a Pac-Man cereal commercial. He’s the dancing young lad with the classy ’80s sunglasses.

According to his IMdb page he was 9 and it was a British commercial.

Christian Bale Talks About His Rant New EW
Posted by: Christine on May 19th, 2009 Leave a Comment »

entertainment-weekly-may-2009The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features MovieSnobs favorite Christian Bale on the cover.

The cover story is intended to provide fans with insight into the new Terminator movie, but inevitably strays into tabloid territory. The writer asks Bale about his profanity-laden on set outburst that became the rant heard ’round the world when it was leaked on the internet in February.

Of the rant, Bale says,

I don’t care to go into details because, you know what, I don’t believe in making excuses. It doesn’t matter. It was unacceptable. I went too far. And I learned from it.’

When asked what he learned, he laughs and says, “Count to 10 first.”

You can read the rest of Bale’s thoughts on his rant, and the story of how he signed on to Terminator: Salvation at ew.com or in the issue on newstands now.

  Associate Producer Defends Bale
Posted by: Mike on Feb 3rd, 2009 Leave a Comment »

After Bale freaked out on set, some of the other people working on the film have come to his defense.

The situation got heated when a director of photography walked onto a scene that they were filming for Terminator Salvation, and Bale freaking, demanding the guy be fired, or he’d quit.  It was a four minute tirade of profanity, that I won’t post here, because you can find it anywhere else on the web.

Associate producer Bruce Franklin has come to Bale’s defense by saying

If you are working in a very intense scene and someone takes you out of your groove… It was the most emotional scene in the movie. And for him to get stopped in the middle of it – he is very intensely involved in his character. He didn’t walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed.

Franklin went on to say

This was my second movie with Christian, and it has always been a good experience with him. He is so dedicated to the craft. I think someone is begging to make some noise (controversy) about this, but I don’t think it’s fair. The art of acting is not paint by numbers, it’s an art form.

Personally, if I was on the zillionth take of a difficult scene, and finally got it and someone screwed that I’d, I’d be pretty pissed too.

The Dark Knight – IMAX vs. Regular
Posted by: Mike on Aug 25th, 2008 Leave a Comment »

I had the opportunity to catch an IMAX screening of The Dark Knight in New York over the weekend, while visiting family.  Obviously, I jumped at the opportunity.  While The Dark Knight has been falling lower and lower on the box office charts, the IMAX showings in our area are still often sold out.  As was the case in New York, at Saturday night’s 5PM showing.

Luckily, we got there early, and were able to get seats that weren’t two inches from the screen.

The movie starts out with a scene shot specifically for IMAX, the entire bank robbery scene was there, in all its enormous glory.  Seeing it on the big screen was one thing, but seeing it in IMAX was a completely different experience.

Not only is the screen almost double the size of a regular theater, but the sound was also much better than the theater I’d previously seen The Dark Knight in.

If you’ve been wondering if it’s worth dropping another $10 to see it in IMAX, the answer is a resounding yes.  Not only will you notice things you didn’t pick up on the first run through the film, but you’ll also enjoy it more.  And, let’s face it, we should all go see the movie again, so we can knock Titanic off the number one spot.  As it stands now, I don’t think The Dark Knight is going to rake in another $110 million, to beat Titanic, unless I go see the movie 100,000 more times. Which, if I had the money, I totally would.

  Christian Bale Update
Posted by: Mike on Jul 22nd, 2008 2 Comments »

In a statement released a few hours ago from his rep, they had the following to say:

Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister,” the actor’s reps said in the statement. “Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale.”

With that said, someone (who allegedly knew someone there Sunday night, said the following (which confirms my assumption that Christian Bale’s family is trash:

Edna: “His mom and sister are alcoholics and drug addicts, they showed up at his hotel uninvited and highly intoxicated. they were calling him big shot and that he needs to take care of his own. His mom was yelling that he would be nothing without her and he owed her. His sister was begging for money and when he was pushing her toward the door his mother came from behind and started hitting him on his head and kicking him. He managed to push them both out the door and his mom fell, they called the police and wanted him arrested. I believe that Chirstian is the victim here not his mom or sister”
Mandy: “edna, how do you know all that?”
Edna: “My father works security at the hotel, and he said it was a mess. His mom and sister wanted the front desk worker to let them into his room to wait for him. When they were told no they started cussing and yelling.  They sat in front of his door for an hour until he finally arrived.”

I’m convinced that Christian Bale would do nothing wrong.  TMZ is reporting that the “abuse” claim was verbal, not physical, which is a relief.  I can’t say I blame him for yelling at his junkie mom for trying to extort him, but that’s just me.
