As someone who just started watching “Veronica Mars” on DVD, I can say that Kristen Bell is infectiously adorable. Needless to say, I’m excited to see her in the upcoming Forgetting Sarah Marshall (of which the trailer looks hilarious) as the ex-girlfriend who has moved on, and now she’ll be starring in the romantic comedy When In Rome.
Rope of Silicon has more of the details on the plot, which includes Bell’s character stealing magic coins from a fountain in Rome. I’d say it sounds cheesy, but compared to a teenage private detective investigating her best friend’s murder (which is fantastic), it’s not that far-fetched.
No release date yet, but Rope of Silicon says it should start shooting in April.

Romantic comedies usually aren’t my thing, but a movie starring Patrick Dempsey as a maid-of-honor might be worth the time, if only for McDreamy’s pretty eyes…
Check out the poster below.

Here’s what Christine had to say about the based-on-a-book Scarlett Johansson movie:
I didn’t read the book, unfortunately, but the movie was excellent…This movie made me a Scarlett Johansson fan…Overall, an excellent movie. The cast is great. Everyone seems very natural in their roles and the story is entertaining and compelling. Definitely check this one out.

Entertainment Weekly has a large spread on this fall’s upcoming movies, which includes a multi-page article about Disney’s Enchanted. The synopsis from Disney reads:
A classic Disney animated fairy tale meets with the modern, live-action romantic comedy in Walt Disney Pictures’ Enchanted. Featuring an all-star cast, the film follows the beautiful princess Giselle (Amy Adams) as she is banished by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon) from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn’t operate on a “happily ever after†basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) who has come to her aid — even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince (James Marsden) back home – she has to wonder: can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
What’s most interesting about this movie is that only the first 11 minutes are animated. After that, Amy Adams becomes the first Disney Princess to be live-action. I can’t imagine a more adorable live-action princess than Amy Adams, or a more perfect live-action Prince Charming than Patrick Dempsey. Whether it will appeal to both kids and adults alike, we’ll have to see. Personally, I see this as being more of a romantic comedy chick-flick type of movie than traditional Disney Princess fare.
