  Taken Gets a Sequel!

Those who visit this site frequently know how much I really really loved Taken.  It’s a badass movie, with lots of ass kicking.

News came out late last night, that screenwriter Robert Mark Kramen (The Professional, Taken, The Karate Kid) let slip that he’s working on a sequel, in a recent interview.

Here’s the quote from the interview:

With more action films in the works, including a sequel to “Taken” and an American version of “District 13,” a popular 2004 French thriller that Besson produced, Kamen says he’s never been happier.

I, for one, am super psyched.  If you didn’t get to check out Taken in the theaters, it’ll be out on DVD in the next few months.  No DVD release date is available at the time of this article.

An Alvin & the Chipmunks Sequel

I haven’t even seen Alvin & the Chipmunks yet and I’m psyched that there’s talk of a sequel already. The MTV Movies Blog reports that a sequel might be in the works that will include the Chipettes – Alvin, Simon, & Theodores little chipmunk girlfriends…who also sang (naturally).

Add on the fact that Justin Long (Waiting…, Live Free or Die Hard) does the voice of Alvin (which I was previously unaware of), and I’m sold.

The article also cites that the movie is about to cross the $200 million mark in box office dollars, and could be “the most successful family film released in 2007.”

MTV.com has a great interview with Tobin Bell, star of the Saw franchise. Bell reveals to the MTV reporter that he keeps journals for every movie he’s in. Bell says,

I write all kinds of stream-of-consciousness things that help me. This usually starts to happen right after I’ve read the script and goes on through filming, up until the final shot. I have a shelf full of these books at home, for every role I’ve ever done, each with the name of the film written on the spine. I ask myself five questions all the time: ‘Who am I?’ ‘Where am I?’ ‘What do I want?’ ‘When do I want it?’ ‘And how am I going to get it?’

The level of dedication Bell shows his craft shines through in each Saw flick, and is precisely what keeps me, and everyone else, coming back for more.

Saw IV comes out this Friday, October 26th. Saw V and Saw VI have been announced.

Jigsaw on the Autopsy TableI’ve found myself writing a lot of news about Saw IV lately, to feed my obsession. I thought I’d spare you the multiple posts and round up the recent news into one small package.

First, there is a Saw marathon in theaters the night before Saw IV is released. Saw, Saw II, and Saw III will be shown starting at 6pm in select theaters, ending with Saw IV airing at midnight. Check Fandango (For those of you in the Boston area, it’s at Loews Boston Common.) for times.

Second, news has come in that Saw V and Saw VI will be shot back-to-back to reduce costs. As we mentioned before, Twisted Pictures doesn’t want to make the films without Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, even though his character is undeniably dead.

Third, Bloody Disgusting has two new stills from Saw IV, one of which is the gross-yet-fascinating one of Jigsaw on the autopsy table at left.

Finally, it’s less than one week until the release of the fourth installment in the Saw series and I couldn’t be more excited.

  Boogey Man 2 – January 8th

I liked Boogeyman, but I’m not sure a sequel needed to be made. Not even one starring Tobin Bell. According to Horror-Movies.ca the straight-to-DVD sequel will be released on January 8th.

As if I haven’t told you enough about Saw IV yet, there’s news about Saw V and Saw VI. According to Horror-Movies.ca, Twisted Pictures has no interest in making V and VI without Tobin Bell. Seeing as Bell’s character Jigsaw is dead even in Saw IV, no one is quite sure how this is going to work.

Tobin Bell as JigsawTwo new Tobin Bell articles have come out today. One on MTV.com with an interview in which Bell says he is looking forward to seeing the autopsy scene. According to Bell, it’s the first scene in the movie. He also points out that,

It’s interesting that Jigsaw gets dissected with the same kinds of metallic instruments that many of his [victims] get subjected to.

While not revealing spoilers, MTV managed to divulge a couple of interesting plot points. Jigsaw’s appearances in the movie, other than on the autopsy table, are flashes of his pre-cancer life, including time with his wife and “the anguish surrounding her pregnancy.” Bell promises in-depth revelations about the character of Jigsaw and the other three films.

The other Jigsaw article of the day comes from Broadside in which Tobin Bell says “I think four might be the best of all of them.” The rest of the article is about the working environment on the set, and the effort that goes into each film.
Saw IV will be in theaters October 26th. So will I.

  Yet Another Saw IV Clip

Please excuse my obsession, but here’s another clip from Saw IV. In this one, a police officer is given the choice to save the victim, or walk away. I have a feeling it ends badly. Go to this website and enter in the code 1026 (the release date) to see the clip.
