“Based on a true story.” It’s a line that draws butts into movie seats (almost) faster than Will Smith. Most of the time, however, moviegoers are disappointed to learn that much of the movie’s events were fabricated and perhaps only a small news story inspired an idea that led to the movie.
CNN has a list of five movies that were based on real-life events that stayed pretty close to the facts. All five include murders, and in some cases the real criminals are still in jail.
