  I Think I’ve Heard this Story Before…

This is non-movie-related, but I had to write about it. IMDb reports that a writer is suing the Disney channel claiming they plagiarized the idea for the hit teen TV show “Hannah Montana” from an idea he pitched to them. He claims,

he pitched an idea for a television series called “Rock And Roland” to the Disney Channel in 2001. According to the lawsuit, the story was about a junior high school student who lived a secret double life as a rock star.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t that mean he plagiarized the general idea from the 80s TV show “Jem”? Granted, Jem wasn’t a junior high school student, but she’s an everyday person with a rock star alter-ego.

Technically, wouldn’t that person be plagarizing any type of work which portrayed someone leading a double life?

Oh, yeah, and Jem is a classic! Bring it back!

I don’t think this guy has a leg to stand on.

So with the surge in Hollywood remaking our childhoods…who do you think they would get to play Jem?
