News on the radio this morning in New York City is that the major awards shows such as the Oscars (airing February 24th, 2008) and others might be in jeopardy due to the WGA strike. The writers could picket outside the shows, throwing a wrench in celebrity appearances. Since the shows rely so much on the celebrity presence, the absence of major stars that refuse to cross the picket lines would practically cripple the shows.
Perhaps even Oscar host Jon Stewart will refuse to cross the picket line to perform his hosting duties.
