Jason Segel Interview about The Muppets

The IESB talked with Jason Segel, the writer of the new Muppets movie. He assures them that the movie will stay faithful to the ’80s-era Muppets. When asked if Kermit’s going to have some mojo in this movie, Segel says,

Let me tell you, anyone who can walk around in life completely naked all the time has got to have some mojo.

Funny, coming from a guy who’s completely naked for the entire opening sequence of his first major starring role.

The Muppets movie is still in the writing stages, and no release date has been set yet. Click here to read the whole interview.

Terminator 4 Director Blogging Filming Process

Terminator Salvation director McG is blogging about the filming progress and has commented on the atrocious spoiler that has been circulating the internet. The spoiler is so awful that I’m not even going to write it here (but you can find it if you look).

Fortunately McG (who also uses the blog to explain his ridiculous name) says this in reference to the spoiler: “By the way, there are only three people who know the ending.”

Nic Cage Will Be a Bad Lieutenant

Werner Herzog (Rescue Dawn) is directing a remake of the 1992 film Bad Lieutenant (originally starring Harvey Keitel) with Nic Cage in the title role. The original movie received an NC-17 rating for following the police officer who was involved in, “drugs, gambling, sex and stealing,” according to Variety.

The new movie is set to start shooting late this summer.

Fraggle Rock Movie In the Works

What more could a child of the 80s want? We’ve had a big-screen adaptation of just about every cartoon, puppet show, and movie that we watched as children. And now we’re getting a Fraggles movie. Empire Online says that the Jim Henson studio will (naturally) be producing and controlling the puppets in a movie that sees them venturing out of the underground Fraggle world and into the human world.

Now if only someone would make a Jem movie…

  New Superhero Movies through 2011

Marvel announced release dates for several of its upcoming superhero movies…all the way through 2011. Iron Man 2 (yes, the sequel to the just released Iron Man) will be released on April 30th, 2010.

Thor is scheduled for June 4th, 2010.

The First Avenger: Captain America (working title) is scheduled for May 6th, 2011, closely followed by The Avengers in July 2011.

Two movies they said are in development but are not yet scheduled are Ant-Man and Spider-Man 4 (ironically).

  Quantum of Solace Set Cursed

I think that’s the only way to explain all the accidents that have occurred on-set or to the crew. Back in April, the Aston Martin being driven to the set drove off a cliff. Shortly afterwards there was an accident on-set with a stunt driver.

The most recent news is that a technician from the set was seriously injured in a domestic dispute - he was stabbed with a steak knife and found in a pool of blood in the street.

  Iron Man Sequel Already Planned

At least, according to Robert Downey Jr.’s trainer. IESB spoke with Brad Bose who said he’s working on getting Downey to put on an extra 10 pounds of bulk for the sequel. The expectation is that Iron Man 2 will begin production early in 2009. And Iron Man hasn’t even hit theaters yet.

Kristen Bell on The Set of When In Rome

The Bad and the Ugly has a few shots of Kristen Bell on the set of her new romantic comedy When In Rome. It’s just a couple of shots of her standing around, but she’s so adorable I had to post about it.

Go check them out on TheBadandtheUgly.com.

The Hobbit and Guillermo del Toro

Finally, after weeks of speculation and will-they won’t-they talk, Guillermo del Toro has signed on to direct The Hobbit. Variety says del Toro will be moving to New Zealand for four years to shoot The Hobbit and its sequel. No wonder it took him so long to sign on - four years is a long time.

Peter Jackson will be executive producing the film. No stars have been announced yet, although Ian McKellan is rumored to reprise his role as Gandalf. The film is set for a 2010 release.
