  New Saw V Images

While I really wasn’t excited for Saw V, this batch of new stills has me confused and somewhat intrigued. While they of course feature Costas Mandylor, they also feature Jigsaw and what looks like an old surveillance shot of the good Doctor Gordon from the original Saw movie. Someone compiled the images into a YouTube video, which can be seen below.

Saw V will be in theaters October 24th.

New Stills from Saw V…if anyone cares

Sadly, the horror series I look forward to every year for the past couple of years seems to be going downhill. However, there are probably people out there that are still psyched for the fifth movie. If you’re one of them, you can check out new stills from Saw V at Bloody Disgusting.

Saw V Teaser Trailer Debuts at Comic-Con

While I’m not really all that interested in the latest installment in the Saw franchise, I still feel compelled to share the teaser trailer that debuted at Comic-Con. I’m not even sure what the plot’s supposed to be in this movie, but I do know it can’t possibly directly involve Jigsaw, the shining star in this series. Therefore, I’m not interested. For those of you that are, click below for the teaser.

Saw V will be in theaters October 24th, 2008, just in time for Halloween as usual.

  Saw V Official Synopsis

From Bloody Disgusting comes the final official synopsis for Saw V, the fourth sequel in the twisted horror franchise. It says,

In the fifth installment of the popular Saw franchise, Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends.

Since I wasn’t all that invested in Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) to begin with, an entire movie about him killing people isn’t nearly as interesting as Jigsaw putting people in deadly traps so that in the event they escape, they appreciate their life more.

For the first time, I’m not really all that interested in a Saw sequel. I mean, seriously…”carry on the Jigsaw legacy”? He’s not carrying on Jigsaw’s legacy. He’s murdering people to keep them quiet. Jigsaw had a reason, however twisted, for the things he did. And that was what made him, and the original few films, so compelling.

  More Saw V Casting News

We heard about the first round of casting for Saw V last month. A new person has been added to the cast, according to UGO Movie Blog. Her name is Meagan Good, and she’s been in a handful of movies, including Brick, Stomp the Yard, and Mike Myers’ upcoming comedy The Love Guru.

Good will be playing a city planner that comes from money. Saw V will be in theaters October 24th, 2008.

  Saw V Casting News

Bloody Disgusting confirmed the cast so far for Saw V as Tobin Bell, Scott Patterson, Costas Mandylor, Mark Rolston, Betsy Russell, and Samantha Lemole. IMDb only has Bell, Patterson, and Mandylor listed, but one would assume at least Betsy Russell would be around for the fifth flick in the series.

Mark Rolston and Samantha Lemole are new to the series, but the rest are all returning characters. The movie is still set for release the weekend before Halloween this year, making this the fifth year in a row that we’ll be able to spend Halloween watching Jigsaw impart his special brand of life-appreciation.

  Saw V Trap News

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of the Saw series of horror flicks, so news on Saw V eight and a half months before the movie hits theaters makes me very happy.

Bloody Disgusting spoke with director David Hackl who has previously served as production designer on the Saw sequels. Hackl has a few tidbits to share about the set and the traps, but I think the most interesting part is when he talks about the “reference disc” given to him by the trap designer: “The disc was full of real life ‘inspiration’ from industrial accidents, plane crashes and road disasters.”

Sounds like the traps are going to be even more disgusting and violent than we’ve seen in the past three sequels.
