Update 12/3/08: I received an email from someone claiming to be an employee of Warner Brothers late last night, saying that the information provided below is inaccurate, and the plans to re-release The Dark Knight in IMAX are still in progress. No mention of normal theaters was made.
Warner Brothers made the unofficial offical announcement today, that talks with executives at IMAX were unsuccessful, and The Dark Knight will not be returning to either IMAX or regular screens this coming January.
That news pretty much puts the squash on the thought that The Dark Knight might beat Titanic to be the highest grossing movie of all time. Unless Warner Brothers change their mind, looks like James Cameron’s ego will get to stay intact for a little bit longer. Until the next Batman movie, maybe?

Just since I left the office last night, all sorts of Depp news has hit the wire. Rumors have been confirmed.
- Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean flick.
- Depp has been cast as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland (no surprise, we know Burton has a bromance with Depp.)
- Depp has been cast in The Lone Ranger, as Tonto.
Also, in other awesome movie news:
- Cars 2 is being worked on for release in 2011.
- Iron Man comes out on Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday.
- Warner Brothers has green lit a prequel to I Am Legend.
It was a pretty busy night for movie news, apparently.
