It appears that you can’t post a teaser for your own movie on your own site without attaching a rating to it. The Zack and Miri Make a Porno teaser that we posted last week was pulled from Kevin Smith’s Quick Stop Entertainment site because the MPAA told them to. Smith explains:
As with features, all trailers get rated get rated by the MPAA. The majority of them are for general audiences (Green Band trailers), but trailers packed with adult content (like our teaser) earns you what’s called a Red Band trailer. Well, we didn’t go through this process - simply because, we felt, that since the teaser didn’t contain any footage from the actual flick, it wasn’t technically a trailer. Boy, was I wrong. Turns out all promotional material for any film financed/distributed by a signatory of the MPAA has to be signed-off on by the MPAA - including internet-only materials.
Hopefully the boys will slap a red band before that baby and have it back up soon.

Straight from Kevin Smith comes the extremely dirty teaser for Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Kevin Smith emphasizes that this is not a trailer, as it contains no footage from the movie. Again, I have to say this is a very dirty teaser and extremely not safe for work. You’ve been warned.
Kevin Smith has always kept fans in the loop on his blog My Boring Ass Life, so it’s no surprise that he’s giving us new information about Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Here’s part of the new image:

Kevin Smith has finished cutting Zack and Miri Make A Porno and has announced (via his Facebook profile) that it runs an hour and 45 minutes long. Perfect timing for a comedy.
Zack and Miri stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks and will be in limited release October 31st, 2008.
My Mom was in town visiting for a while, and we were chatting about movies one night during dinner when Superbad came up in conversation. I sent Superbad to my younger brothers (14 and 20) for Christmas with a note attached that said, “Don’t watch this with Mom & Dad!” There are just some movies you shouldn’t watch with your parents. Inspired by that, here are my Top Five Movies Not To Watch With Mom:
5. A Clockwork Orange - I first watched A Clockwork Orange in film class in college, and I was embarrassed to be watching it with other people. There are too many penises (penii?) in the robbery scene for this to be a safe movie for anyone to watch with their mom. Don’t even get me started on the milk bar.
4. The Exorcist - Another movie I first watched in film class (at 10am, no less), The Exorcist is one of those truly disturbing movies that you just feel dirty after watching. Despite all the awful things little Regan says to her mother throughout the movie, there’s only one reason you really shouldn’t watch this with your mom - the infamous scene of Regan shoving a crucifx where it doesn’t belong and screaming something that Kathy Griffin might say after winning an award.

Kevin Smith has started to chronicle the filming of his eighth movie, Zack and Miri Make A Porno and it sounds like everything is moving along like clockwork. Seth Rogen is a natural, as expected, since the part was written for him. Elizabeth Banks is pulling out the charm, as she does.
Zack and Miri is set for release sometime this year.
