  The 25 Most Dangerous Movies

Michael Madsen as Mr. BlondePremiere Magazine has compiled a list of the 25 most dangerous movies - movies such as A Clockwork Orange, Bonnie & Clyde, and Natural Born Killers (you know, movies you watched in film class). They describe them as “films that rearrange your head” and include short explanations of why each movie made the list.

My favorite entry on the list is Reservoir Dogs. The scene that Premiere focuses on is the one in which Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen) cuts off Marvin’s ear while bopping to “Stuck in the Middle With You.” The “dangerous” part is that everyone vividly remembers the horrible blood and gore of the ear slicing, but we never actually see the blood and gore. Tarantino panned away just as Mr. Blonde started to cut and only pans back when the ear is gone.

Not only is it an excellent scene in an excellent movie, there’s a great story in the Premiere list that explains the iconic image of Michael Madsen sipping a Coke:

To prepare for the role, (Kirk) Baltz asked (Michael) Madsen to lock him in the trunk of his car. “I thought he was insane,” Madsen says. “I went through the drive-thru at Jack in the Box and got a Coke. Quentin was a little distraught. When we popped open the trunk, Kirk was awful sweaty.” Just as the scene begins, you can see Madsen leaning against a pole, sipping that Coke.
