Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey has debuted the new roller coaster based on The Dark Knight. Geeks of Doom has a video from Six Flags’ PR team showing parts of the ride, and riders’ first reactions.
I’m a little worried by the woman who says it’s “gentle enough to bring all the kids.” I was hoping for a ride more like “Batman: The Ride” at Six Flags Over Georgia. It’s an intense 2 minute ride with “2 vertical loops (77 feet and 88 feet tall), 2 single corkscrews (each 40 feet long) and a one-of-a-kind heartline spin producing a feeling of weightlessness.” While the new Dark Knight coaster boasts “six 180-degree hairpin turns, climb unseen hills, plunge into pitch darkness, dip into unforeseen danger.”
Really? Dips. Hills. What am I – twelve? I was expecting something along the lines of the previous Batman ride or even the “Superman: Ultimate Flight” ride that debuted just before Superman Returns.
Granted, it is a highly themed ride featuring footage of Aaron Eckhardt as Harvey Dent shot just for the ride. And it’s an in-the-dark ride like “Space Mountain” at Disney World. Even so, I was expecting more. Anyone else disappointed by the lack of excitement in the ride?
