Will It Bomb? Weekend of 4/18/08

Good evening, everyone! The weekend is on its way, and I hope that you all will take the time and go see one of so many films that the studios have released! Only, are they worth your precious time and dough?

That’s right! It’s time for a brand-new installment of WIB?! How are the choices looking this weekend! Scroll down and see!

88 Minutes: After having given expert testimony at the trial that puts a ruthless killer on death row, somebody’s looking to get revenge on Al Pacino! True to form, he has to figure out who wants him dead, before it’s done. Naturally, he only has, what else, 88 minutes to do that. The crazy part is the hardened criminal that got put away actually seems happy that the tables have turned.
Will It Bomb? Guys, it’s Al Pacino! He could read the list of ingredients on a cereal box and it would still be considered brilliant! I think it will make the lower level of the 5, since the rest of them are getting a bit old and not-so-fresh.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall: How can you forget Sarah Marshall? When Jason Segel gets dumped by the aforementioned screen queen (Kristen Bell), he rolls on out to Hawaii to drown his sorrows. Only, guess who’s staying at the resort with her new squeeze? While being around the happy couple is making Segel uncomfortable, he makes new connections of his own. This just may be the ticket to overcome the heartbreak!
Will It Bomb? The marketing campaign has been rampant for this comedy, and while it may be a little excessive at this point, it will pay off! Produced by Judd Apatow and written by Segel, it’s a guaranteed success. This will positively dethrone Prom Night. It will make #1, and with a great big chunk of dough!

The Forbidden Kingdom: I am beyond thrilled that two men who are considered to be masters of the martial arts film genre have finally banded together! When a teenager gets transported to Ancient China, he seems pretty skeptical about possibly becoming an elite warrior. However, the two men who wish to become his master must put their own personal feelings aside, especially when one needs rescuing. I know that if I had to pick between Jet Li and Jackie Chan, I’d have quite a hard time!
Will It Bomb? I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for a pair-up like this! While the storyline is geared more toward the tweens and teens, judging by those fight scenes in the trailer, it should bring in the greenbacks! I vote that it will get into the middle of the Top 10.

Pathology: I thought the medical students in Flatliners were pulling something pretty freaky! Milo Ventimiglia stars as a med student who’s in a rivalry with another. Yep, the two overachievers are trying to trump each other. What’s the catch? Somebody in their expanded social circle is a little obsessed with murder. So, what’s the whole point of these senseless killings? Is it to gather up cadavers for genuine medical research or just for kicks? Personally, I don’t want to know!
Will It Bomb? This week has very stiff competition, but for those who want to get the living daylights scared out of them, this is the way to go! I vote center of the 10.

Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? (Limited Release): I’ve always thought that Morgan Spurlock is pretty ballsy. What can you expect from a guy who ate nothing but McDonald’s for an 30 days? With this documentary film, the topics venture from attitudes toward terrorism and discussions with Muslims, as well as a trip to the Middle East in search of Bin Laden himself.
Will It Bomb? Spurlock has made quite a name for himself with his over-the-top documentaries, so I don’t see why this wouldn’t make a little dough!

Wow, we’ve got quite a variety! Those are my assessments, friends. Want to see if I can still maintain the level of success from last week? There’s only one way to find out! Stay tuned for the next edition of DIB?, which returns early next week. Happy viewing!
