In a bold effort saying that Paramount stands behind their decision to let J.J. Abrams do whatever the hell he wanted with Star Trek, news broke last night that they’ve green lit the sequel.
You read that right, a full month before Star Trek hits theaters, they’ve started looking for writers for the sequel.
Personally, I’ve never been a “Star Trek” fan, so I’ll be skipping the movie. But what about you? Were you a fan of the show? Do you have plans to see the movie? Leave your opinion in the comments.
In a recent interview with the Boston Metro, Steve Zahn was asked what he thought about Christian Bale.
For those that don’t know, Zahn and Bale worked together on 2006’s Rescue Dawn. Which, while I wanted to love it, was just mediocre.
When asked if he thought Bale was hotheaded, Zahn replied saying
Maybe that DP was a complete a-hole and Christian was the only one who could put him in his spot.
He goes on to say
Also, he’s f***ng hysterical. I always joked, ‘Why don’t you do any comedies man?’ We have the same problem. I never get the Batman part and he never gets the comedies because of the way we’re perceived.
Christian Bale, playing in a comedic role? I’d pay $10 to see that.
Variety is reporting that The Three Stooges has been cast, and is set to start production later this year. And the lucky cast members are: Sean Penn as Larry, Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio Del Toro as Moe.
What do you think? Do they fit the bill? Personally, I can’t see Benicio Del Toro as Moe, or even Jim Carrey as Curly (as funny as he was ten years ago.) Physically, they just don’t fit the bill for me.
PopCrunch interviewed Rob Thomas this morning, about his new television series “Party Down”, and they asked him how his pitch to Joel Silver about the “Veronica Mars” movie went.
His response
While the pitch went well and I don’t think the movie’s dead, right now it’s looking depressing, I think honestly if we would have had the pitch ready a year earlier, it would be a go project. The hope that we would get a quick greenlight didn’t materialize. This is the least optimistic I’ve felt in a while.
In response to why he wanted to make the movie, he said it was because of how fans reacted to the series finale, and says
It’s one of the reasons I wanted to do the movie. There was so much debate as to how we would end season three since it could have been our last episode. But truthfully, I didn’t want to make it any easier for them to cancel us. I didn’t want to give them that nice happy ‘ahhh’ feeling.
