My favorite Christmas special is on tonight on ABC Family – The Year Without A Santa Claus. Santa gets a cold and almost skips Christmas. The real joy of this one is in the musical numbers of the Miser Brothers – Heat Miser and and Snow Miser (seen at left with their mom – Mother Nature). It airs tonight at 8pm EST.
It’s immediately followed by Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer & the Island of the Misfit Toys. Rudolph is a classic story, featuring his friend Hermey the elf, who really wants to be a dentist. Rudolph & Hermey meet the toys on the Island of the Misfit toys, where everyone is a misfit just like them. Everyone has a favorite misfit toy (mine happens to be the Spotted Elephant) – what’s yours? Rudolph airs at 9pm EST.
If you’re following along with Josh’s countdown, you should have already watched Edward Scissorhands and Die Hard, so tonight’s choice should be The Great Escape.
Thanks for sharing the link to that. I bought that box set last year! Although I thought the random Cricket Christmas movie in there was a little odd. I didn’t watch it – I just thought it was out of place in with the classics.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is my absolute favorite Christmas movie. Ever since I was a little kid I’ve spent Christmas Eve curled up on the couch with my family and watching this and the other magical Christmas Classics. I overjoyed to follow the same tradition with my own children.
This season, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, Frosty the Snowman and four more holiday classics are all available in one beautiful keepsake package: The Christmas Classics DVD Box-Set. It even comes with a bonus music CD! You can buy this wherever DVDs are sold, but it’s also available at http://www.christmasclassics.tv. I only know about it because I work with the company, but it’s something my family and I will treasure for many holiday seasons to come. It even makes a great gift!
