Good evening! I have returned with your recap of last week’s releases and how they fared compared to my predictions. It was a pretty light weekend, so there isn’t too much to go over.
Welcome to DIB?, kids! Let’s get this show on the road!
The Seeker: The Dark is Rising: Based on a popular series of books, a teenage boy learns he has a whole new identity, including special powers.
Will It Bomb? Lower end of the 10, since it’s something the kiddies will like.
Did It Bomb? The overall Box Office was a bit low this week, so this managed a #5 slot with $3.75 mill earned. That absolutely surpassed my prediction.
Outcome: Mezza-mezza. ½ out of 3.
The Heartbreak Kid: The Farrelly Brothers pair up with their old pal Ben Stiller. You do the math.
Will It Bomb? Not a chance. Top 5 standing!
Did It Bomb? It slid into the #2 spot, behind The Game Plan, and raked in $14 million.
Outcome: Score! 1 ½ out of 3.
Feel the Noise: Ex-boybander leaves home to get away from thugs and ends up trying to market himself as a rapper.
Will It Bomb? Yeah. It looks a bit clichéd and corny. It probably will tank.
Did It Bomb? $3.19 mill brought in and a #8 standing. Apparently, someone felt it. It certainly wasn’t me.
Outcome: Mezza-mezza. 2 out of 3.
***Official Box Office tallies and positions according to Variety (variety.com), The Hollywood Reporter (hollywoodreporter.com) and the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com).
Go figure! I was a bit off on two of them. Hmm! That doesn’t happen very often, does it? Well, come on back later this week over at WIB?, where yours truly gets to assess the new flicks that are just around the corner. DIB? returns early next week with the wrap-up. I’ll be here with bells on! See you later!
