Did It Bomb? Weekend of 11/30/07

All right, ladies and gentlemen! DIB? has returned with this past weekend’s box office recap. So, did I manage to start pulling myself out of the slump? Although, there isn’t too much to go over, it’s time to find out!

Awake: Right when he’s supposed to be completely anesthetized and waiting for his operation to begin, Hayden Christensen probably shouldn’t be hearing what he’s hearing: a plot to take his life right there in the hospital.
Will It Bomb? Eh… The trailer gave quite a bit away. Nevertheless, the flack this film has been getting regarding statistical statements may be a buzz kill. Since there isn’t anything similar, it will probably pop in the 10, in at least the 6th spot.
Did It Bomb? It was another lackluster week in Movie Land, as you may have noticed by the lack of major changes to the Top 10 list. This snuck in at #5, but with a very low earning: $5.86 million. Pathetic, isn’t it?
Outcome: Score! 1 out of 2.

The Savages: Bickering, but loving siblings (Laura Linney, Philip Seymour Hoffman) must become the parental figures in this film, when they realize that their father needs to be put in a rest home.
Will It Bomb? The two leads are superbly talented, and I see a genuine chemistry between them. This will do pretty well!
Did It Bomb? Over $153,000 earned from showings just in New York and Los Angeles?! Not bad at all! Let’s hold this one over, too!
Outcome: Score! 2 out of 2.

***Official Box Office tallies and positions according to Variety (variety.com), The Hollywood Reporter (hollywoodreporter.com) and The Internet Movie Database (imdb.com).

I told you that this was going to be quick! There will be a lot more to read about in this week’s upcoming edition of WIB?! Come on back later this week and check out what’s on the menu. As always, DIB? will be back early next week with all the results. Until then!
