Columbia Pictures has purchased the rights to the Goosebumps series of books by R.L. Stine, according to Variety.
For those of you that weren’t reading teen books in the 90s, Goosebumps is a beloved series of semi-horror novels for the tween-teen set. It’s like Stephen King for beginners. The books had a TV series for a while, but it never quite lived up to the books (or to its rival Are You Afraid of the Dark? TV show). Columbia is thrilled to be making movies from the books and says,
they likely will cast unknown child actors and then pepper the film with well-known thesps in supporting roles, much like Warner did with the Harry Potter franchise.
I am hoping for a big screen version of It Came From Beneath the Sink, since I vaguely remember that book scaring the bejesus out of me when I was a kid.
What other Goosebumps books are you looking forward to seeing in movie form?
