Tiny doll-like actress (and Oscar nominee) Abigail Breslin is going to play a real life doll. Kit Kettridge is based on the American Girl Doll series of books and dolls. The dolls, which have their own enormous store in New York City, can cost $100 plus and can be customized to look like the child buying the doll. The dolls attached to the books have their own personalities. Kit happens to be a young girl growing up during the Great Depression.
Despite my hatred of the dolls (stemming from never getting my very own Molly doll as a child), the movie’s cast looks pretty good – Joan Cusack, Stanley Tucci, Chris O’Donnell, Wallace Shawn, and Jane Krakowski. Check out the poster below, where Breslin looks precocious, as usual.
