Given the movie claims to be “written by 2 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie“, I’d say it’s safe to say that it’s only 1/3rd as funny as the original Scary Movie was. I know, I know, these types of movies aren’t supposed to be “good” or “have a point”, and I’m fine with that. After all, I enjoyed the hell out of Waiting…. But, this movie just didn’t do it for me.
Despite all the great Scary Movie-esque references to other movies, and songs, and other pop culture things, it just didn’t do it for me. Did I laugh a few times? Sure. Did I think some things were funny? Of course. Did I like the movie? No.
Would I recommened this movie to you? Probably not. Unless it was absolutely the only movie left that wasn’t on “Short Wait” at Netflix, or the last movie left on the shelves at Blockbuster. Then, I’d say consider it. I mean, it could be worse, it could be Broken Flowers or something horrid like that.
Is the movie tolerable? Yes, I sat through it. Would I do it a second time? Absolutely not. Am I glad I at least watched it? I guess. At least I know now that it’s not worth watching ever again.
I’m game for a good laugh your ass off movie. I’m even game for a good slap you in the face National Lampoon style comedy. But sadly, this movie didn’t cut it when it comes to the comedy department. I mean, yea, some of it’s funny. But most of it, you’re just kind of sitting there like “Okay, I get the joke they were trying to make. But it’s just not that funny.”
My advice, stay clear of this disaster. It’s not worth your time.
