Based on the hit show shown on Comedy Central, the deputies of the Reno Sheriff’s Department are invited to attend a law enforcement convention in Miami.
Now the cast of characters are so out there, they definitely need to be described. Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon) is the head of the department and has chopped up his regulation uniform into one tight pair of short-shorts; Clementine Johnson (Wendi McLendon-Covey), the resident blonde sexpot who always likes to have her cleavage on display; Raineesha Jones (Niecy Nash), the outspoken woman who doesn’t thing she’s got it, she knows it; Travis Junior (Robert Ben Garant), who ends up as Ethel to Dangle’s Lucy in various schemes; Trudy Wiegel (Kerry Kenney-Silver), who’s not terribly sharp and harbors a BIG lust for Dangle. Rounding out the group: S. Jones (Cedric Yarbrough), James Garcia (Carlos Alazraqui), and Cherisha Kimball (Mary Birdsong). Now these three are not as prominent as the others, but they have their moments.
Anyway, once they get down to Florida, surprise, they’re not on the list for the convention. Nor does it seem that anyone really wants them there. So,they think all is lost. Au contraire! After every police officer at the convention is quarantined for some random biohazard, Dangle and the gang step up to the plate. With Miami’s streets protected by this lot, hilarity and chaos are guaranteed.
I don’t think I’ve seen a complete episode of the TV show, but then again, I probably didn’t need to. For the most part, this is lowbrow, slapstick humor. I laughed really hard at certain parts, but I chuckled throughout most of it. Keep your eyes open for cameos from some big names. If you want another movie that you can sit back and just watch, without using your brain, this is one for you.
