Serenity Review

I’m not the biggest fan of Sci-Fi movies. Unless of course, it’s any of the Star Wars movies, those just kick ass.

However, even with my lack of Sci-Fi love, Serenity still found its way to being a great movie, to me. While the whole Sci-Fi genre generally doesn’t interest me that much, this movie still was pretty bad ass. Tons of fighting, mid-air battle scenes, and gun fire. That’s stellar, regardless of the genre of movie it’s in. Serenity, apparently is based on yet another Fox TV show that they stupidly canceled, yet had a huge cult following. Fox has a habit of canceling shows that are great. Who the hell’s running Fox anyway? Probably some old people. That’s another story.

Though I found the whole concept of the movie a bit too Sci-Fi-ish to me, it was still fun to watch, and enjoyable. I’m sure if you’re a fan of stuff like Battlestar Galactica, and Stargate, not only have you already seen this movie, but love it as well.

It has a Matrix meets The Fifth Element feel to it. Very futuristic (yet they don’t specifically give you a time frame), and very modern, as well. I liked all the gadgets that they had in the film. The CGI is phenomonial throughout, as well.

This movie’s definitely for those who like any of the following:

  • Action
  • Sci-Fi
  • Fights
  • Good CGI

I liked it. I probably would have liked it more had I watched Star Trek as a kid. But, even being non-Sci-Fi, I still enjoyed the movie, and was glad I got to finally see it.
