TV Land has released a list of the Top 100 TV Catchphrases of all time. Included on that list are such classics as “D’oh!” (Homer Simpson, The Simpsons), “Holy (insert phrase here) Batman!” (Robin, Batman TV series) and “You rang?” (Lurch, The Addams Family). My favorite phrase on the list is from my favorite comedy, How I Met Your Mother – “Suit Up!” said by Barney Stinson. Barney is played by the inimitable Neil Patrick Harris (at right).
While there are several new shows included on the list (including Survivor, The O.C., etc), How I Met Your Mother is only in its second season. It seems to me to be a great honor for a newbie show to be included in the top 100 of all time. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re seriously missing out. To catch up, I suggest reading Barney’s Blog, featured on CBS.com. It’s a perfect example of the awesomeness that is NPH’s character on the show. Also, Season One of the show is available now on Amazon.com.
