The Dark Knight now holds the record for highest grossing first ten days.
That brings the records to:
Highest grossing opening weekend
Fastest movie to hit $200 million
Highest grossing first 7 days
Highest grossing first 10 days
And I’m sure they’ll keep coming.
As of now, unofficial estimates for the second weekend are roughly $75.8 million, bringing the movie’s total to $314 million.
And, for the record, it’s still #1 on IMDb’s Top 250 (now with 135,000+ votes.) That’d despite 4,171 people voting a 1 for the film. (3.1% of the overall votes.) I’m convinced those people are Godfather fans who are trying to bring The Dark Knight down out of the #1 spot. Keep trying, it’s not going to work.
The estimates are in from Friday’s box office take, and various sources are reporting that The Dark Knight has broken the single day box office record, with an amazing $66.4 million.
The previous record was held by Spider-man 3, with an impressive single day record of $59 million.
Weekend numbers haven’t been made available as of yet, but if estimates stand, The Dark Knight will certainly be in the history books. Let’s hope the rest of the weekend held as good numbers, and the movie sets a new opening weekend record, knocking Spider-man 3 (which is a piece of crap movie) out of the top spot.
