  The Hobbit and Guillermo del Toro

Finally, after weeks of speculation and will-they won’t-they talk, Guillermo del Toro has signed on to direct The Hobbit. Variety says del Toro will be moving to New Zealand for four years to shoot The Hobbit and its sequel. No wonder it took him so long to sign on – four years is a long time.

Peter Jackson will be executive producing the film. No stars have been announced yet, although Ian McKellan is rumored to reprise his role as Gandalf. The film is set for a 2010 release.

  Sandra Bullock in Car Accident

Sandra Bullock and her husband Jesse James were in a car accident on Friday night. According to, Bullock is in Rockport, MA shooting a movie called The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds. The accident occurred in nearby Gloucester, and was caused by a drunk driver hitting the SUV Bullock and James were riding in. Luckily, no one was injured in the accident.

  Bond’s Aston Martin in a Lake

James Bond’s iconic black Aston Martin plunged into an Italian lake yesterday morning, according to The car was being transported to the Quantum of Solace set during a heavy rainstorm and slid right over the side of the cliff into the lake. The driver of the car was not injured.

Superhot actress Milla Jovovich will star in a new thriller called The 4th Kind, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The movie should start filming in June. It’s a based-on-a-true-story thriller about a town in Alaska with a bunch of mysterious disappearances. Milla plays someone investigating the disappearances, which are thought to be an FBI coverup.

Kate Beckinsale in Everyone\'s FineRobert DeNiro is one lucky actor. Not only has he had one of the most successful Hollywood careers, but now he gets to star in Everybody’s Fine with two of my favorite actresses – Kate Beckinsale and Drew Barrymore. has more details about the movie – including the director, writer, etc. – in which DeNiro plays a widower trying to reconnect with his adult children.

Beckinsale’s Snow Angels costar Sam Rockwell also stars. Filming starts later this month, with no release date set yet.

  Harrison Ford Gives Shia a Run for His Money

If anyone were to break a hip on the set of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, we were sure it would be Harrison Ford. The 65-year-old didn’t get injured while slinging the whip, but 21-year-old Shia LaBeouf pulled a rotator cuff in his hip while filming a swordfighting scene. The MTV Movies Blog talked to Shia, who also pulled his groin on-set.

Crystal Skull comes out May 22nd, 2008.

  Optimus Spotted In LA

It looks like they’re preparing for filming the sequel to Transformers, currently titled Transformers 2.

Superhero Hype snapped a picture of our good friend Optimus Prime cruising down the highway, on the back of one of his buddies, of course. Also spotted in the area was the Decepticon Barricade.

  Zack and Miri Make A Porno starts Filming

Kevin Smith has started to chronicle the filming of his eighth movie, Zack and Miri Make A Porno and it sounds like everything is moving along like clockwork. Seth Rogen is a natural, as expected, since the part was written for him. Elizabeth Banks is pulling out the charm, as she does.

Zack and Miri is set for release sometime this year.
