In a bold, and maybe not the most financially smart decision, Gore Verbinski has turned down the opportunity to direct the upcoming fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Verbinski graciously declined citing that he wanted to spend more time and energy working on the upcoming movie adaption of the Bioshock video game.
He is quoted as saying
I had a fantastic time bringing “Pirates” to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team, I’m looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future.
Personally, I’m torn. I thought the first two Pirates movies were great. The third lacked a bit and spent too much energy focusing on CGI effects.
The question now is, who’ll take the helm. No word from the studio, yet, as to who they’ve got in their sights. Though I’m sure we’ll hear some news soon.
In the “Hollywood is out of original ideas” report of the night, we’re hearing word the Gore Verbinski (you know, that guy who did the Pirates stuff) is going to take helm on a Clue re-do.
No word on the cast yet, but it’s sure to be way over the top, if Verbinski’s involved.
