I love James Franco. I love Mila Kunis. I love Michelle Williams. I’m not sure I love this trailer.
The trailer itself is very well made, I’d go as far as saying gorgeous. But the movie itself concerns me a bit. How do you mess with such a classic movie such as The Wizard of Oz? I get that this isn’t a remake, or a sequel. But these are characters that we know and love.
You remember Date Night, right? Tina Fey, Steve Carell? Sound familiar? If it doesn’t, you should make note of it now, because it’s going to be hysterical.
The movie recently got three new cast members involved. It’s being reported that Ray Liotta, Mila Kunis and Mark Ruffalo have joined the cast.
For those that don’t remember, Date Night is about Fey and Carell who play a married couple who find their routine date night becoming much more than just dinner and a movie.
The rest of the cast is made up of some pretty big names, too:
Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Taraji P. Henson, Jimmi Simpson, Common, Kristen Wiig and Leighton Meester.
The movie is currently filming, and is scheduled for release April 9th, 2010.
When I first heard about Date Night, I thought “Tina Fey and Steve Carell, together?” and then “Liz Lemon and Michael Scott, together?!” and began giggling like a little girl. Which is funny, because I’m a grown man.
We got news late last night that now Mark Wahlberg and James Franco have joined the cast.
I know, I know. Mark Wahlberg’s ruined every movie he’s been in for the last handful of years. Maybe this is the chance he needs to turn it around. Maybe… comedy?
James Franco’s been very hit or miss the last few years, as well. While I loved him in “Freaks and Geeks”, I didn’t really care for Pineapple Express. Spider-man did well for him, as well.
The cast breakdown is as follows:
Mark Wahlberg (Four Brothers, The Big Hit): A successful and crazily buff securities expert who flirts with Fey’s character.
James Franco (Spider-man, Pineapple Express): A not-too-bright conman and petty criminal.
Leighton Meester (TV’s Gossip Girl): The couple’s babysitter.
Check out the new poster for Seth Rogen’s upcoming stoner comedy Pineapple Express:
The movie was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the same guys who wrote Superbad, and stars Rogen and James Franco. It hits theaters August 8th, 2008.
