  Spielberg loves Transfromers 2

Michael Bay posted a message on his official forum last night.  Apparently he and Steven Spielberg are BFFs and hang out all the time, or something to that effect.

Here’s what he had to say

Steven Spielberg sat next to me in a big 100 person theater at Sony today. There were 98 empty seats. The lights came up after we just watched my cut of Revenge of the Fallen. He turned to me and said “It’s awesome”. He felt this movie was better then the first – and probably my best, who knows – at this point in a movie you start to lose your objectivity. I just hope the fans like it. I’m going to start putting it in front of audiences in a few weeks – no you are not invited, yet.

We have 60 days left. Let me tell you it will be a race to finish. It’s 12 at night and we are still working here in the edit room. Everyone at ILM and DD are killing themselves right now, they are doing a stellar job on the effects. We also just finished our trailer which is coming out with Wolverine. Talk to you soon.

Not that we needed any more reasons to see the new Transformers film, but an endorsement from Spielberg certainly doesn’t hurt.

  Transformers 2 run time

Michael Bay makes really long movie, with really quick scene transitions. We all know that.

When asked about the run time for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Bay says

I don’t ever talk (to executives) about run times. Studios always ask, ‘What’s the run time?’ And I’m like ‘If you enjoy the movie, do you care?

With that said, it’s being reported that the sequel to the 143 minute Transformers will come in a 147 minutes (2 hours 27 minutes), which is a mere 4 minutes longer than the first.

That is as is, as of right now.  I’m sure that the studios will chop the film down a little bit, move scenes around, add credits, etc, which will alter the total runtime when the film hits theaters.

Though the second Transformers hasn’t even hit the screen yet, studio execs have already set the release date for the third, yet-untitled Transformers movie.

The third movie with giant robots kicking each other’s asses will hit theaters on July 1st, 2011.

Michael Bay, Megan For nor Shia La Beouf have been confirmed to be part of the third movie, yet.
