Kellan Lutz, who’s slightly famous for his role as Emmett Cullen in Twilight has reportedly joined the cast of the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, as a “popular school jock.”

Filming starts May 5th, and the film is scheduled to be released April 16th, 2010.

A good day to be a Mara

Some of you know Kate Mara.  She’s done TV (“Law & Order: SVU”, “Everwood”, “Nip/Tuck”, “CSI: Miami” and a bunch more), and branched out into movies (Shooter, Brokeback Mountain, Transsiberian).

What you may not know is that she’s got a little sister, who’s also an actor.  Her name’s Rooney Mara, and she’s also done quite a bit of TV (also “Law & Order: SVU”, and most recently a few episodes at the end of “ER”).

It’s good to be a Mara this week, because they’ve both landed pretty huge roles, which will certainly help their careers.

Kate has been cast in Iron Man 2.  No details are available about the role, as of yet.
Rooney has (reportedly) been cast as Nancy Thompson in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake.  Yes, the main character.

You can seel below how similar the two are.  When I saw Rooney on “ER”, I knew that she had to be related to Kate Mara.  Not only do they look alike, but they sound alike, and accentuate words the same way.

New Nightmare gets a release date

The new Nightmare on Elm Street movie hasn’t started filming yet.  In fact, they haven’t even cast the new Freddie yet. (Chances of Robert Englund reviving his role are about as likely as me winning the Mega Millions.)

Though they haven’t started filming, or casting, they’ve set a release date already. Weird, I know.

Nightmare on Elm Street (part 3 trillion) will hit theaters April 16th, 2010.  $50 says that’ll be delayed between now and then, but thats’ just me.

Elm Street gets a new Director

The Nightmare on Elm Street remake is progressing along nicely.  We get news yesterday that Samuel Bayer will be directing the new film.  Production start date hasn’t been announced yet.

Samuel Bayer got his start by introducing us to grunge, back in the 90s.  He directed the famed “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video for Nirvana.

Bayer is also slated to direct Fiasco Heights starting later this year.

New Nightmare On Elm Street movie coming

ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that studio execs have green lit a new Nightmare on Elm Street flick to start filming next year.

That may or may not be good news, depending on your feelings about the franchise.  The bad news, for everyone, is that Robert Englund will not be returning as Freddie.  Personally, I don’t see how you can make a movie in this franchise without him, but that’s just me.

Head on over to ShockTillYouDrop for more details.
