Having just seen “Rent” on Broadway for the last time (which just happened to only be my second time, sadly), I was super-excited to see this new poster for a movie release of “Rent” on Broadway filmed live. No, the poster’s not exciting on its own, but the thought of having the “Rent” experience professionally captured on film is somehow a comforting one. As I sat in the crowd last Saturday watching the performances of songs I’ve grown to love, I realized that the movie was the only way future generations were going to be able to experience it. Apparently (and happily), I was wrong.
I really enjoyed The Transporter and Transporter 2. They’re badass action flicks where Jason Statham punches people in the face a lot. Needless to say, I’m thrilled that they’re making a third installment in the series. Check out the poster below. It’s not too exciting, and Statham actually looks more like Michael Stipe than himself, but there’s a gun and the 3 is written in fire, so it’s at least semi-representative of the movie.
I wasn’t planning on writing about this, because Dane Cook complaining about something isn’t high on my list of interesting things. But judging from the amount of people coming to our site looking for the poster he’s complaining about, I couldn’t resist any longer.
Dane Cook, comedian and sometimes actor, is in a new romantic comedy starring Jason Biggs, Kate Hudson, and Alec Baldwin. The poster (which can be found here in full size, or seen miniaturized below) is awful, to say the least. But Cook wrote a ten-point rant detailing all the reasons why the poster is horrendous. Among the complaints:
1. Graphics: Whoever photoshopped [sic] our poster must have done so at taser point with
3 minutes to fulfill their hostage takers deranged obligations.
9. The cast: Alec Baldwin is so f****** funny in this movie! Is he on the poster? I think so. He plays the wise talking plant Jason is clutching.
I totally agree with the Alec Baldwin point. More importantly, if you’re putting Dane Cook and Jason Biggs on a poster with the gorgeous Kate Hudson, wouldn’t you put her in the center?
