The new Nightmare on Elm Street movie hasn’t started filming yet. In fact, they haven’t even cast the new Freddie yet. (Chances of Robert Englund reviving his role are about as likely as me winning the Mega Millions.)
Though they haven’t started filming, or casting, they’ve set a release date already. Weird, I know.
Nightmare on Elm Street (part 3 trillion) will hit theaters April 16th, 2010. $50 says that’ll be delayed between now and then, but thats’ just me.
ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that studio execs have green lit a new Nightmare on Elm Street flick to start filming next year.
That may or may not be good news, depending on your feelings about the franchise. The bad news, for everyone, is that Robert Englund will not be returning as Freddie. Personally, I don’t see how you can make a movie in this franchise without him, but that’s just me.
This is the most depressing news since the Patriots lost the Super Bowl less than 24 hours ago. The Nightmare on Elm Street remake rumors that have been buzzing about the past couple of weeks have been confirmed, but Robert Englund – the man who made that movie series good – won’t be involved.
Shock Til You Drop has the news straight from Platinum Dunes and New Line. This is a major bummer for fans. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Freddy with the same perfect mix of dry humor and terror. As lame as some of the sequels go, Freddy always made it entertaining.
