I know, I know, there’s tons of teenagers in this country. But really, High School Musical 3 is the biggest movie in the country over its past opening weekend? $40 million dollars worth of teenagers and adults paid to see this movie.
I really am astounded.
I’m surprised Saw V managed to pull in just over $30 million, even with all the movie goers going to HSM. I’m actually surprised that many people paid to see it. It’s the first Saw in 5 years that Christine hasn’t begged me to go see opening night. That’s probably because the franchise is beyond ridiculous now.
Forty million. That’s 4 million people paying $10 each to see it. I… just… wow. Simply wow.
Sorry for the lack of updates this week, I’ve been working pretty heavily on a redesign for the site, which has taken up most of my free time.
To keep you occupied, in the meantime, here’s a recap of what’s going on, and some links to more stories:
There’s a whole bunch of new images from Saw V, which opens next Friday over at BloodyDisgusting
Sources say there’s more footage after the end of Max Payne, similar to the last Pirates movie and Iron Man. Stick around until the credits are over for a hint of a sequel.
SlashFilm is reporting that Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland is going to be “more engaging/psychological”, by which they mean “stupid” and “annoying.”
A site I’ve never heard of, called MovieHole, says that someone greenlit a World of Warcraft movie, and a script is being penned. (link)
JoBlo has a pretty cool interview with Mark Wahlberg (link)
Lionsgate has said they’re not screening W in Texas. Hmm, wonder why?
Richard Donner has confirmed that plans to make The Goonies sequel are one again shut down.
LatinoReview has some new images from Star Trek, if you’re into that sorta thing. (link)
That’s about it for the last couple of days. Back to work on the redesign I go.
The folks over at Lionsgate have provided a new Red Band trailer for the upcoming Saw V, which proves to just try to out-gross last year’s Saw IV. Take a look, assuming you’re “legal” to do so by clicking here.
Note: I tried to embed it here, so you wouldn’t have to click over there, but their embed code doesn’t work, all it does is play their pre-roll ad, and I’m sure you’re more interested in the trailer.
While I really wasn’t excited for Saw V, this batch of new stills has me confused and somewhat intrigued. While they of course feature Costas Mandylor, they also feature Jigsaw and what looks like an old surveillance shot of the good Doctor Gordon from the original Saw movie. Someone compiled the images into a YouTube video, which can be seen below.
Sadly, the horror series I look forward to every year for the past couple of years seems to be going downhill. However, there are probably people out there that are still psyched for the fifth movie. If you’re one of them, you can check out new stills from Saw V at Bloody Disgusting.
While I’m not really all that interested in the latest installment in the Saw franchise, I still feel compelled to share the teaser trailer that debuted at Comic-Con. I’m not even sure what the plot’s supposed to be in this movie, but I do know it can’t possibly directly involve Jigsaw, the shining star in this series. Therefore, I’m not interested. For those of you that are, click below for the teaser.
