News came out of Hollywood today that last year’s hugely successful Sex and the Citywill not only be getting a sequel, but it’ll happen pretty quickly, too.
And the bigger news, all four leading ladies signed contracts this week solidfying the Sex and the City sequel.
You can probably expect it late this year, or early next.
Hello, people! This weekend flew by, didn’t it? We only had a couple of flicks come out over that time period, but let’s see how my predictions matched up, shall we?
Sex and the City: Our favorite New York gals are back for one last hurrah. Almost all of the stars of this massively popular series have returned! I don’t know about you, but I was more than eager to see what course their lives have taken. Will It Bomb? The female demographic will get this into the #2, but I doubt that it will shut out Harrison Ford! It will make a large amount of dough, anyway. Did It Bomb? Shocker! This went straight to #1, with a take $56.8 million. Sex definitely sells! Outcome: Mezza-mezza. ½ out of 2.
The Strangers: Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler take their married selves for a little getaway and end up stalked and held against their will. Not one of these kind of movies again! Looks tremendously boring to me… Will It Bomb? This will get into the Top 5, definitely. I don’t think it will come close financially to the real hits. I vote it will make it to the #5 or #4. Did It Bomb? Surprisingly this made $21 million, and it was enough to land this in the #3 position!
Outcome: Mezza-mezza. 1 out of 2.

Well, what do you know? Stumped again! As I often say, if you fall off of the curb, pick yourself up and start anew! Hopefully, I’ll do much better when this weekend’s new flicks are rolled out! See you over at WIB? in a couple of days!
New Hitman Images – Much like the image of Ryan Gosling has drawn readers to the above post, the image of a bald, gun-toting Timothy Olyphant has drawn readers to this post from before the movie came out.
40 Hottest Women Over 40 – It’s no surprise that people are still flocking to Mike’s list of the top 40 hottest women over 40. With babes like Mariska Hargitay and Eva La Rue sprinkling the page, who wouldn’t want to read it?
The Prestige – Explained – Our most popular post ever has dropped to number 4 this month as the discussion continues. The spoiler-filled post is a jumping point for the intense discussion that follows in the comments.
Unofficial Cloverfield Soundtrack Available – Some fans are still looking for a Cloverfield soundtrack, even though one isn’t available. This post points to a listing of all the music played at Rob’s party in the movie.
The Dark Knight Viral Marketing – Even though most of the marketing for The Dark Knight has gone decidedly mainstream (Dark Knight candy, anyone?), readers are still looking for the crazy viral marketing that has been promoting the movie for over a year.
The Prestige Review – Mike’s in-depth explanation of The Prestige continues to drive people to read his five-star review of the movie.
Iron Man Review – The first superhero movie of the summer was Iron Man and it was pretty awesome.
Katy checked out the movie version of the super-popular TV show Sex and the City and gave it four and a half stars. She says,
I was a huge fan of the series and I am glad that they are finally attempting to tie up all loose ends and give their stories a satisfying and sweet sense of closure. But, there were definitely bumps along the way.
Happy Friday! May is about to be a distant memory, but you can bet that the studios are breaking out the good stuff! What can you all look forward to this final week of the month? Hey, it’s time to find out! Here comes another edition of WIB?!
Sex and the City: Anyone who has ever been a fan of this show will be running so fast to see this! Four years have gone by since the series ended, and it looks like the ladies are going through even more life changes. Everyone is back, from the fabulous femmes, to their ultra-fashionable friends, husbands, children, and the best accessory of them all: New York City. Will It Bomb? With a predominantly female audience, this will break into the second spot. Indiana Jones doesn’t look to be stepping down from its pedestal, but this will still break the bank. Who hasn’t been waiting for this movie to be made?
The Strangers: How many more movies with this same tired premise have to get made? Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman play a couple who take a little vacay at some isolated spot, when a bunch of people (who are probably psychotic, as they usually are in these films) hold them hostage and terrorize them. Am I supposed to be afraid? I’m pretty bored, actually. Even the music in the trailer and the masked mug in the corner didn’t do it. Will It Bomb? I would not be surprised if it were to end up somewhere in the Top 5, but this will never match or surpass the ladies of SATC and old Mr. Jones. I think it’ll slide into the fourth or fifth spot.
It looks like that’s going to be all for me! You can bet that I will be back early in the week to give you the recap like nobody’s business. That happens, as always, over at DIB?. Have a great weekend and Happy Moviegoing!
After seeing two Sex and the City posters featuring only Sarah Jessica Parker (here and here), I was wondering if they were even going to bother putting one out featuring all four stars. They did, but it appears to be in German (I think).
Another poster for Sex and the City has been released, also featuring Sarah Jessica Parker. I like this one better than the last one. I know nothing about the show, but it just looks like the sparkly leather jacket looks better on Parker than the bright blue frock.
Side note: my cousin works at the TGI Friday’s in the background (it’s Times Square).
