  Transformers 2 Dominates Box Office

It’s no secret that everyone anticipated Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to be enormous.  I even went and saw it, though I certainly didn’t like it.

The movie raked in just over $200 million it its first five days in theaters.  While that may seem like a lot of money, it isn’t the most money ever taken in during the first five days in theaters.  That record is still held by The Dark Knight.  It was close, but Batman won by just a few million dollars.

With that said, $200million is still good for the number two spot on the list of best five day openings in history, and it demolished The Proposal, which made just $18 million.

Did you see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen?  What did you think?  Sound off in the comments.

  Transformers 2 run time

Michael Bay makes really long movie, with really quick scene transitions. We all know that.

When asked about the run time for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Bay says

I don’t ever talk (to executives) about run times. Studios always ask, ‘What’s the run time?’ And I’m like ‘If you enjoy the movie, do you care?

With that said, it’s being reported that the sequel to the 143 minute Transformers will come in a 147 minutes (2 hours 27 minutes), which is a mere 4 minutes longer than the first.

That is as is, as of right now.  I’m sure that the studios will chop the film down a little bit, move scenes around, add credits, etc, which will alter the total runtime when the film hits theaters.

This will be airing tonight during the Super Bowl, along with a bunch of other trailers.  Most of them made their way online late last night, but this is the only one that’s excited me enough to post.   Check it out.

The MTV Movies Blog has news about The Office star Rainn Wilson joining the cast of Transformers 2. He’ll be playing a college professor, but won’t reveal much more than that. Although he jokes that he’s playing, “a professor that turns into a car that turns into a robot.”

Jonah Hill Not in Transformers 2

The Transformers 2 casting rumor that Jonah Hill was going to play Shia LaBeouf’s sidekick actually turned out to be semi-true. For a while, Hill was in talks to play the role. Unfortunately, reports that the talks have broken down.

I’m bummed for a couple of reasons. One, I’m a little tired of Shia LaBeouf and I thought Jonah Hill would be a nice scene stealer. And two, it would give Hill a chance to practice his PG-13 humor.

Jonah Hill in Transformers 2Jonah Hill. No joke, IESB has the rumor along with the description from the casting sheet of the character rumored to be played by Jonah Hill.

[CHUCK] 19-25 yrs., Sam’s roommate at Princeton. He runs a conspiracy theory website. Funny in an irreverent, edgy way, he is shocked to see his conspiracy theories come to life. (2nd Lead)

I think Hill would be an excellent addition to the cast, and will definitely give Shia LaBeouf a run for his money and will absolutely be a scene-stealer.

  Optimus Spotted In LA

It looks like they’re preparing for filming the sequel to Transformers, currently titled Transformers 2.

Superhero Hype snapped a picture of our good friend Optimus Prime cruising down the highway, on the back of one of his buddies, of course. Also spotted in the area was the Decepticon Barricade.
