It’s a sad day for us The Dark Knight fans. Or for those of us who just love movies in general.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon has set a new opening day record of just over $72million. That beats the previous record, held by our loved The Dark Knight by just over $5.6million.
New Moon has also set a new “single day” record, and a “single day – Friday” record, for its opening day.
Despite making a boatload of money, people don’t seem to be enjoying the latest “Twilight” movie. As of now, Rotten Tomatoes’ current rating is 29%, and IMDb is only at a 4.4/10.

This year’s MTV Movie Awards Nominees have been announced. It may come as no surprise that tween hit Twilight is nominated for the most number of categories – seven. Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire is nominated for six, while MovieSnobs favorite The Dark Knight is only up for four.
MTV has added new categories this year, including Best Song and Best WTF Moment (featuring nominees such as the naked breakup in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
For the first time in the Movie Awards’ history, viewers can vote on the Best Movie category right up until the announcement of the winner. This is also the first year that the nominees were decided on by fans voting through MTV’s website. The show will air live on May 31st at 9pm.
In addition to having production start on the next movie in Twilight saga of films, we found out that Cameron Bright (who you may know from Running Scared, Ultraviolet or Birth) has been added to the cast.
Bright has been cast to play Alec, who is a “a high ranking and powerful Volturi member.”
I don’t have the faintest idea what that means, because I’ve never read the books (and have no intention on doing so.) Christine just Netflix’d the Blu-ray of Twilight, which I’ve put off watching as much as possible since it got here. Maybe if I’m lucky, she’ll forget all about it, and I’ll never have to watch it.
Principal photography is reported to be underway. The film is set to open November 20th, just over 7 months from now.
