I had heard about the controversy over the billboards for Wristcutters: A Love Story but hadn’t seen anything about the movie itself until Mad About Movies posted the trailer today. It looks like it’s going to be a really great movie, for those that can get past the grim premise.
Zia (Patrick Fugit) commits suicide and winds up in an alternate-reality-type place filled with everyone else who has committed suicide. Zia and some new friends are in search of what they couldn’t find in their lives. Without the suicide part, it looks like a roadtrip/finding yourself kind of film. The trailer is funny, and feels like it’s going to be a heartwarming kind of movie. The movie also stars Shannyn Sossamon, Tom Waits, and Will Arnett.
The film will be in limited release on October 19th. Go check out the trailer on Mad About Movies.
